COATINGS
Vacuum coating is the application of layers of metals, their oxides, salts
and compounds to select crystal surfaces in a vacuum. Vacuum coating is
available as top coating (tc) or bottom coating (bc) for Fashion Jewellery
Stones and half coating (hc) or full coating (fc) for Beads.
TC – TOP COATING
Foiling is the application of
a reflective layer to the bottom
of the stone to obtain maximum
brilliance.
HF – HOTFIX (IRON-ON)
Flat Back Stones with a special
low- melting-point adhesive
applied to the base. HF Stones can
be affixed to fabrics using heat and
pressure (e.g. ironing).
Sizes of Fashion Jewellery Stones
and Beads are given in various
units:
Products are usually supplied
in grosses or their multiples.
Other quantity units such as pieces,
dozens and mass are used in some
cases.
Quantity units for Bandings and
Chains are given in metres (m).
Top coating is a decor created by
a vacuum coating process that is
applied to the top of the stone.

is applied to the bottom of the
stone.
HC – HALF COATING
Half coating is a decor created by
a vacuum coating process that is
applied to only a part of the Bead.
FC – FULL COATING
Full coating is a decor created by
a vacuum coating process that is
applied to the entire surface of the
Bead.
MATTE
A matt finish is achieved by
chemically treating the product's
surface during the final finishing
stage, resulting in a frosted effect.
DF – DURA FOILING
The silver reflective layer is coated
with a protective gold-silver (FJS)
or satin (FBS) layer, meeting the
manufacturer's most stringent
requirements for an ecological and
safe product as well as an effective
and problem-free application.
G – GOLD FOILING
The silver reflective layer is
coated with a protective layer that
contains a bronze pigment. Usually
applied to Round or Fancy Stones.

S – SILVER FOILING
The silver reflective layer is
coated with a protective layer that
contains an aluminium pigment.
Usually applied to Chatons in
Crystal AB and Flat Back Stones.
A – ALUMINIUM LAYER
The mirror effect is created by an
aluminium layer applied using a
vacuum coating process.
